Finite element modelling of monotonic pull-out test of deformed steel rebar embedded in well-confined concrete

چکیده

A finite element study carried out using LS DYNA and aimed to simulate the monotonic pull-out test of deformed steel rebar embedded in concrete is presented this paper. Three models interface between well-confined concrete, i.e. perfect bond model two bond-slip are observed compared. Bond stress-slip response obtained numerically validated with experimental data empirical equations available from literature. The full overestimates response, providing higher stress. In models, good agreement numerical stress Stress–slip responses. equation proposed by Murcia-Delso Shing (2014) found overestimate peak

3D Mesoscale Finite Element Modelling of Concrete

Concrete is non-homogeneous and is composed of three main constituent phases from a mesoscopic viewpoint, namely aggregates, mortar matrix, and interface transition zone (ITZ). A mesoscale model with explicit representation of the three distinctive phases is needed for investigation into the damage processes underlying the macroscopic behaviour of the composite material. This paper presents a f...

Compton back scatter imaging for mild steel rebar detection and depth characterization embedded in concrete

A novel non-destructive Compton scattering technique is described to ensure the feasibility, reliability and applicability of detecting the reinforcing steel bar in concrete. The indigenously developed prototype system presented in this paper is capable of detecting the reinforcement of varied diameters embedded in the concrete and as well as up to 60 mm depth, with the aid of Caesium-137(Cs) r...

Bonding Behavior of Deformed Steel Rebars in Sustainable Concrete Containing both Fine and Coarse Recycled Aggregates

In order to assess the bond behavior of deformed steel rebars in recycled-aggregate concrete (RAC) incorporating both fine and coarse recycled aggregate, pull-out tests were carried out in this study on 16-mm diameter deformed steel rebars embedded concentrically in RAC. The concrete was designed using equivalently mixed proportions of both recycled coarse aggregate and recycled fine aggregate....

Finite Element Modelling of Steel-concrete Composite Beams Strengthened with Prestressed Cfrp Plate

This paper presents results from Finite Element Modelling (FEM) of steel-concrete composite beams strengthened with prestressed Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) plate. For the purpose of this study, three beams were strengthened using prestressed CFRP plate with three different levels of induced prestressing force. The models were developed using ANSYS FE package. The results of an experi...

Flexural Strengthening of Deficient Reinforced Concrete Beams with Post-Tensioned Carbon Composites using Finite Element Modelling

The application of external post-tensioned steel bars as an effective way to strengthen an existing bridge has been so far used in many different countries. In recent decades, however, they have been replaced by bars made from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP), as a material with high tensile strength and corrosion resistance, to address several concerns with steel bars such as their appli...
